This is a heart-warming story from Kingman, Ariz, as reported by ABC-11 TV.
Two and a half years ago, Kingman Police Department Lieutenant Brian Zach was working a night shift as a patrol sergeant and was called to check on a home. That’s where he found Kaila, who is now four years old, and Zach said he immediately knew something was wrong, the station reported.
As he tended to her needs, the two just bonded. It was Kaila’s third reported instance of abuse in her first year and a half of life. Brian could not stop thinking about her situation.
When child protective services needed to find a temporary foster home for the little girl, the Zach family stepped in. Last week, they officially adopted Kaila into their home.
This is a Christmas she’s not likely to forget.
